Another Beginning. In 2018 Lucy was commissioned by Scott Creative Art Foundation as Artist in Residence to work alongside writer Peter Spafford, responding to the artwork and writings of Michael and Eileen Scott and to Mulgrave Woods - an ancient stretch of woodland near the Scott’s second home in Whitby, North Yorkshire. They found the woods rich in metaphor and allusion: nature beautiful and brutal, dark and light, death and renewal – all themes with which the Scotts’ grappled like the truth seekers they were and also the biologists they were trained to be. The photographs represent a journey the Scotts likely took from Sandsend to the ‘Grail Castle’ ending at the ancient oak, perhaps where Michael sought out and argued with the Green Man, as recorded in one of his meditations.
